Licensed Attorney D. Lance White and Accredited Representative Paula White, together have helped hundreds of people obtain Social Security disability and SSI benefits.

Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Recently, I helped a client obtain his benefits after his claim had been denied at initial application and had become bogged down at Reconsideration. Evaluation of the case revealed the problem holding up a favorable decision was my Client’s self-employment earnings. I wrote a letter to the Social Security disability examiner explaining the Client’s unique circumstances and how to apply the law in his case. Within one week of my letter being received by the Social Security disability examiner, my client received a favorable decision.

How did you build a successful practice?
I have built my practice around building relationships with my clients by listening and responding to each unique individual case circumstance.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?
People seeking to obtain Social Security benefits should hire a lawyer that has experience handling Social Security Disability cases. The complexity of the Code of Federal Regulations requires an attorney that concentrates solely on Social Security disability law.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is extremely important to hire a local attorney because each Social Security office has its own procedures. My office regularly deals with the local Social Security offices, including hearing offices, field offices and the Disability Determination Services.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I listen carefully to each potential new client’s information to evaluate the probable outcome of each unique case. If I take a new client, it is because I believe I can help that client obtain Social Security disability benefits.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I will need information regarding the status of any prior filed applications for Social Security benefits, the medical conditions that limit the Social Security disability Claimant’s ability to work and the treatment they have received for the medical conditions. I will also discuss the potential new client’s work history over the previous 15 years. Additionally, I will need general information about the potential new client, e.g. contact information, age, full name. I will only ask for your Social Security number if I decide to take your case.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
My practice focuses solely on helping people obtain Social Security Disability and SSI benefits. I thoroughly screen every case before accepting the appointment. If I accept a case, I expect to win it.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Many of my clients have no income and extremely limited means of support. The greatest reward is helping people regain the stability of having a steady income.

What are your other interests in addition to law?
I love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, college football, and riding roller coasters.

Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I am involved in the community. I was awarded the 2018 Pro Bono Publico Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association for my legal work helping disabled and indigent people. I am a member of the First United Methodist church in Baton Rouge where I am active having served as a former President of the Children’s Council. I served on the board of the Early Learning Center in Baton Rouge and have been a volunteer youth soccer coach for four seasons.
